The second wearing test
One atelier refuses to make anything that will not be worn twice. It rules out most of what the occasion category produces.

Occasion wear has an unusual failure mode: the garment works perfectly once and then never leaves the cupboard. The industry treats this as normal. One studio treats it as a design fault.
A rule with teeth
The test is simple and brutal. Would someone wear this a second time, to a different kind of event, without explanation? Anything that fails is not made.
It removes almost everything. Structures that only hold for one evening, embroidery placed where it cannot be cleaned, weights that are tolerable for three hours and intolerable for four.
What survives
What is left is quieter than the category expects and considerably more expensive to make, because durability in occasion dressing is not a finish. It is a construction decision taken at the start.
